Qur’an Vocabulary

فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ

So worship Him. This is a straight path. [3:51]

قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى رُزِقْنَا مِن قَبْلُ

They will say: this is what we were given before. [2:25]

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ

That is the Book, in which there is no doubt. [2:2]

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ

That is because Allah, He is the Truth. [31:30]

يَقُولُوا۟ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِكَ

they say: this is from you. [4:78]

مَآ أَظُنُّ أَن تَبِيدَ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أَبَدًا

I do not think this will ever perish. [18:35]

تِلْكَ أُمَّةٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ

That was a community that has passed. [2:134]

تِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِى نُورِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا

That is the Garden We give to Our servants as inheritance. [19:63]

قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ

He said: these are my guests, so do not disgrace me. [15:68]

إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ

Indeed, these are but a small band. [26:54]

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

Those, their refuge is the Fire for what they used to earn. [10:8]

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ

Those are the ones who have lost themselves. [11:21]

ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ

who gathers wealth and counts it. [104:2]

ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ

who whispers in the breasts of mankind. [114:5]

ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ

which rises over the hearts. [104:7]

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ

Have you seen the fire that you kindle? [56:71]

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ

except those who believe and do righteous deeds. [103:3]

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَآءُونَ

those who make a show of their deeds. [107:6]

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

Allah, there is no god except Him. [20:98]

إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠

Indeed, I am Allah; there is no god except Me. [20:14]

أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ

that you worship none but Allah. [11:2]

أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ

that you worship none but Allah. [11:26]

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

Nay! You will come to know. [102:3]

كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ

Nay! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher. [104:4]

تَنزِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

A revelation from the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. [41:2]

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب

and to your Lord direct your longing. [94:8]

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ

Indeed, mankind is in loss. [103:2]

ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ

The Most Merciful rose over the Throne. [20:5]

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

About what are they asking one another? [78:1]

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ

Read in the name of your Lord who created. [96:1]

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

All praise is for Allah, Lord of all worlds. [1:2]

لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِۦ شَىْءٌ

There is nothing like Him. [42:11]

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Say: He is Allah, One. [112:1]

سَلَٰمٌ هِىَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ ٱلْفَجْرِ

Peace it is until the break of dawn. [97:5]

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

It is they who are the successful. [2:5]

إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

Indeed, You are the Knowing, the Wise. [2:32]

إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠

Indeed, I am Allah; there is no god but Me. [20:14]

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ

Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder. [15:9]

وَٱلْعَصْرِ

By time. [103:1]

أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ

Or like a rainstorm from the sky. [2:19]

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَٰهُ أَسْفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ

Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low. [95:5]

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ

That is the Book; there is no doubt in it. [2:2]

لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

I do not worship what you worship. [109:2]

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

He neither begets nor is born. [112:3]

لَن تَنَالُوا۟ ٱلْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا۟

You will never attain righteousness until you spend. [3:92]

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ

Indeed, mankind is in loss. [103:2]
